About village
There are hills and mountains
around Sibiel and it is crossed by Sibiel river. The village is situated at 530
– 620 m in an wonderful area wich is called << Marginimea Sibiului >>
having a nice position at the beginning of the river from the mountains.
From Sibiel you can go to
Crint which is a post balneoclimateric station, in <<Poiana Soarelui
>> where there is a fresh air sculpture camp, in Saliste or Paltinis. On
the Fortress Hill ( at 1097 m ) there are the ruins of a medieval fortress,
built in the XIV century.
The written date about Sibiel are from the XVI century, from 1322 when Salgo fortress, the picture appeared in documents, was identified as The Top of Well Fortress, which is now called the place from Cells

Museum, amoung the natural beauties, the setiing, the simplicity and the hospitality
of the people are only few treasures which seduce you to visit thee place,
which is called Sibiel.

The village is surrounded by orchard with traditional types of apple trees and pear tress. People use woods for heating and drink cold water from fountains. You can find here a lot of traditional customs which remain unchanged and there are unique in our country.
A lot of trades had been
kept from father to son in Sibiel : smithy, farriery, capcarpantry furrier`s
trade, eaving, the traditional spinning of the wool, the cheese preparation.
Here you will be initiate in the mestery of the glass pointure an weaving by
skilful handicraftsmen. You can also assist
at the plum brandy preparation, at the wine`s or at the apple`s must,
bread, sponge cake cooked on the fire place, at the preparation of the forest
fruit jems. Our visitors can taste the beauty of some ancient customs, living
amoung the habitants the charm and the deep misteru of an event or of different
religious rituals.
