The Glass Icons Museum

 

    The collection of galss icons in Sibiel started in 1969 when then were 9 glass icons. That was the period oftes the restauration of the pointure from the church and the problem was to introduce that church in the national and universal tour as a monument of art.But they need something else and the priest Zosim Oancea founded the second treasure in people houses – the glass icons – and he considered that it was the most suitable completion of the cultural patrimony, among the historic monument that was the Saint  Trinity Ghurch.

    From this respect people were called to offer the icons and the collection grown up at around 150 icons. The gathering area became larger and larger, first of all in the neighbourhood villages and then in all gathering area and there are now almost 600 pieces.

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saint Trinity Church

   The church was declared a historical monument in 1924 and it dates from the XVII century ( it was built in 1765 ) and the fresco picture was made between 1774 – 1775 by Stan and Iacob Zugravul.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The monastery << At the Cells >>

    Clembing 5 miles from Sibiel on the valley of the Sibiel river you can reach this monastery which was first documentary dated in 1716.

 

 

 

 

 

The feudal fortress Salgo

    Placed on the fortress hill it was dated in 1383 and it took place from the south – est Transilvany frontier system of defence.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The three crucifixes in the village

    There are three crucifixex in Sibiel and they are built from stone and brick and they are more than 150 years old ( 1803, 1814, 1817 ), fresco picture and wooden crosses inside. The first crucifix is near the church and it was pointed in 1917, the second from the Utii1s mouth was built in 1814 and the terd is in the widow Ciortea Maria`s  yard and at was built in 1803.
